Orioles Flashback Friday Player Profile: Brandon Fahey

The Orioles Flashback Friday Player Profile is a series featuring obscure, mediocre and infamous Orioles players from their last "rebuild" era that spanned 14 years. An article will be released every Friday spotlighting a former Oriole from the disappointing days of our past.

Before there was Ryan Flaherty, there was Brandon Fahey. Both were super-utility players who were mostly deficient on offense. Along with their eerily similar last names they actually finished with pretty comparable batting averages and covered pretty much every position on the diamond. These guys are starting to sound too familiar.

Fahey was drafted by the O's in the 12th round of the 2002 draft. He finally got his chance in the show in 2006 where he saw the most action of his career playing in 91 games. He also finished with his best stat line batting .235, with a .307 OBP and .307 slugging. The utility man also hit his only two career home-runs during that season. After then Fahey was limited to a utility role as he was undersized and didn't produce on offense consistently enough to be an everyday starter.

Lets be real. He looks like Steve Rogers before he became Captain America.

Fahey shows how the baseball body has evolved in a relatively small amount of time.

At 6'2 and only 160 pounds not many modern players match his frame.

Chart from We Are Fanatics

Fahey would finish his career after three seasons with the Orioles, batting a career .224 and logging time at every position besides center field, catcher, first base and pitcher. A defensive feat only to be outdone by a Moxy Boys favorite, Ryan Flaherty.
