Although it has been rumored for the past few weeks, the Ravens made it official today, announcing the team and long time coach John Harbaugh have reached an agreement on a four year extension. The contract will expire in 2022 per team reporter Ryan Mink.
"I'm very excited with this contract, the opportunity to continue our work here, and am humbled by it," Harbaugh said in a statement released by the team.
Although Harbaugh came into the 2018 season on the hotseat, it seems winning the AFC North and making the playoffs with a rookie under center solidified owner Steve Bisciotti's confidence in his veteran coach. Furthermore, with long time GM Ozzie Newsome changing roles, retaining Harbaugh makes Eric Decosta's transition to full time GM a smooth one. Quarterback Lamar Jackson will also benefit from the organizational continuity.
